x| Algander is a bit of a pompous king, showing off his power every chance he's got. He's bombastic in his bragging, and makes others around him feel inferior. Algander tends to take jokes too far, and has difficulty understanding boundaries and emotions. He's arrogant and opinionated, believing that he could never be in the wrong of a situation. It's pretty hard for Algander to make friends, but those that he does befriend are often others just like him.

Algander can also come off as a bit of a pervert, a vile lion who only thinks in terms of his interests. He's even been known to breed lionesses against their will.

Algander does have a bit of a soft side; he's rather quick to trust others, and can come off as pretty fatherly. He cares deeply for his pride-mates and is always sure to provide them with the very best. He'll often put on grand speeches and shows to motivate and encourage his pride, and sticks with them through thick and thin. Pride members often learn to see Algander as a father figure and a symbol of protection, despite his less-than-appealing attitude and personality.

TLDR; Algander can come off as an arrogant pervert, but he cares deeply for those who serve him and will give his life for them. Despite his vain and selfishness, he's got a heart of gold.

x| Algander's story isn't exactly a happy one. When Algander was born, his biological father was murdered by a new-comer to his pride. Algander's mother had recently become pregnant with the past King's children, and hadn't told the new King when he took over. As a result, she was able to give birth to Algander and his sister under the assumption that they were the new King's cubs. Of course, Algander's mother told him this when he was older; but he didn't dare tell the King he wasn't his real father, for it'd mean death for the young cub. His sister had been killed off as an example by the new King when a lioness tried to refuse bearing his cubs. Algander's mother eventually took the new King on as her mate, effectively making him Algander's step father. He took a fond interest in Algander, despite treating the cub poorly. She had taken him as a mate in hopes it'd keep Algander safe, but it only made his life harder.

3 months into Algander's life, the new King of the pride abandoned Algander's family and birth pride. Algander had no choice but to follow him, his mother too weak to care for him and his pride-mates wanting nothing to do with the assumed son of the wretched King. Following behind his step-father's footprints, Algander was dragged to pride after pride, watching his stepfather ruin them as he had Algander's. He began learning from the male, picking up undesirable traits from the false father figure.

Moving around all the time, Algander hadn't made too many friends. As soon as he'd made a friend, his step father tore him away from the pride and he lost his friends sooner than he could make them. Algander began to grow excessively lonely, longing for the day he'd find a pride and stay with them instead of moving all the time.

When Algander grew to be 4 years old, he had adopted much of his father's abusive and demanding personality. He still had a spark of gentle and loving nature within him, but he had become consumed by trying to please the King and become like him. When his step father grew old and frail, Algander had finally had enough. He was finally strong enough to break away from his step father, and left him to die alone in the desert.

Since then, Algander has been on his own for two years. He's begun forming his own pride now, trying to create that sense of community he had been starved of as a child.

Despite Algander's perverted and aggressive personality, he really just wants the family he never had.
